Linux over Windows - Whats the craic

well to start with

Linux works and windows tries to .......

Okay i am sure windows geeks will not agree and may be couple of years ago i wont agree to that as well.

Linux has got this bad guy image of having to use black windows to type cryptic commands to open a file, where as windows is user friendly, nice interface, very simple blah blah blah

Thats the image everyone has about linux, including me couple of years back.

The true story

Linux works. It has millions of developers ( growing every day) who contribute to its development free of cost on their own time whereas windows is at the mercy of microsoft, who have one way of thinking, make products attractive by making it look nice and charge the world

Its common sense , which one do you think will survive, linux indeed. Windows as a OS is not bad , however its future is bleak

Check Ubuntu out which is a flavour of linux.

a) It is free
b) Will do everything windows claims to do
c) detects wireless, usb modems by default without having to install properitory drivers like windows
d) has an open source alternative for every single purchasable software
e) Backed by a large forum of ubuntu followers, who answer even the silliest question, without
charging you for the time

f) And the best, when a new version gets released. You dont take a back up and re install. You click one button to upgrade and the new version comes into you desktop without losing a single file

Do you think thats reason to change, i would say. Even if you dont wish to leave your windows OS, try installing Ubuntu os as an application and you will see its benefit ( yes the only OS whcih you can run as an application)
